New York City musician Jeff Slate’s new single, a cover of the Small Faces and Faces bassman Ronnie Lane’s “The Poacher,” is a taste of what’s to come on Slate’s forthcoming album The Last Day of Summer. Featuring Earl Slick (David Bowie, John Lennon), Steve Cradock (Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller), Adam Ippolito (John Lennon) and a crack all-star band, the release of “The Poacher” marks what would have been Lane’s 76th birthday with a full-throttle blast of old school mod-style rock and roll.
